The
PAY Program reaches out to youth (ages 12 and above) to show them
that the choices they make and the things that they do might get
them sent to a place called PRISON. Based on over
seventeen years of experience working in State Prison, Correction
Officer Michael Cushman explains the harsh realities of prison
life to the audience. He demonstrates that prison is not a
place they would ever want to go. Youth in general, plus
those who are "at risk" or in the PINS or Probation will
benefit from this program.
The
PAY Program utilizes video, PowerPoint presentation and hands-on
items to drive home the point that prisons are scary and dangerous
places.
Kids
will be shown that prison life is NOT cool,
glamorous or fun.
Michael
has over seventeen years experience in the New York State
Department of Corrections. Nine of those years spent
investigating gangs and their activities. Mike is a member
of the Youth Assistance Program and Population Management
Committee at his facility. He is volunteering his time to
teach "Prison Awareness for Youth" to help young adults
make positive choices in their lives so they won't end up in a
place called prison.
Other
Programs taught by Officer Cushman include:
