WHAT TO
EXPECT @ RELEVANT
CHURCH
We
know - it can be difficult visiting a new church for the first
time. Sometimes you feel like a non-member visiting a country
club. Am I really welcome? Will the people be unfriendly, or too
friendly? Will I stick out like a sore thumb? How easy is it to
leave, if I want to bail? Will they ask me for money? Will my kids
enjoy it? How should I dress? Am I welcome if I’m not much of a
believer?
While
visiting Relevant Church, it is very important to us that you have
an enjoyable, stress-free and relaxing experience. One of the ways
we’d like to make your visit with us more enjoyable is by
letting you know what to expect when you attend one of our worship
experiences:
Each week our service will
begin promptly at 10:30 a.m. During our services, which will
normally be about 90 minutes, you’ll enjoy dynamic worship
through music, media and a relevant message that will both
encourage and challenge you in your spiritual journey.
When
you arrive at The Ramada Inn (on Arsenal St. - Across from the
Mall), beside Bob Evans, feel free to park anywhere.
When you get to the doors
you will meet some friendly people (we call them
‘greeters’). They will gladly escort you to wherever you
are going if you ask. If you have kids, they will show you where
to take them to register for the Relevant Kids
worship experience. There is also good signage to help you find
your way to the Conference Room and Children’s rooms.
Security is of the utmost importance to us. Therefore, we issue
each child an id bracelet and each adult a bracelet with the same
id number. If at any time during the service, your child
is in need of parental assistance, the ‘id #’ will flash
discreetly on the projection screens in the main auditorium
signaling that you are needed. Also, you will be the only
one allowed to check your child out of the Children's Church room
so remember to hang on to your id bracelet.
You’ll
notice that the majority of our attendees are dressed comfortably,
in anything from "office casual" to jeans and sneakers.
If you arrive early, you’re welcome to have a donut and/or a cup
of coffee (self-serve near the entrance) and pick up information
in the lobby area.
When you come in the
Conference Room, you’ll be given a copy of our
bulletin which has the weekly and monthly announcements. You’ll
notice inside the bulletin a number of informative items including
a ‘connection card’ which is an easy way for us to get better
acquainted; on the ‘connection card’ you can ask for
information and/or assistance. We really hope you feel free to
fill this card out during your visit and either drop it in the
offering plate or hand it to a Greeter on your way out.
The service will begin with
some upbeat music, followed by a formal welcome and a time of
sharing stories of how God has impacted the lives of some people
that week. Then someone will offer a prayer, and the Pastor (or
another speaker) will begin the message. The Pastor will generally
speak for about 30 minutes, and do his best to be as real and
transparent as possible as he shares Biblical messages pertinent
to today’s life. At the close of the service, The Pastor
will offer those in attendance the opportunity to receive Christ
into their heart. Additionally, there are Church Leaders
ready and waiting for anyone who has special prayer needs. They
are available at the end of each worship experience to spend time
together with you in prayer.
After the service, your kids
will be waiting for you to check them out. It is our goal each
week for them to have lots of exciting things to share with you
about their learning experience.
We
hope that you’ll be able to stick around, and meet some of the
folks who attend here every week. Since one of our core values is
‘Friendliness’, we’re always excited to meet new guests and
share the exciting things that God is doing through Relevant
Church.
We welcome you to
meet with the Pastor up front after service to introduce yourself
or to ask questions about Relevant
Church. Meeting new people can often be an intimidating
task. We want to assure you that Pastor Rob LOVES to meet the new
folks...so don't think you're taking his time when the fact is, he
is there specifically for you. We’ll also
have a small gift to present as a token of our appreciation
of your visit. We can't wait to meet you!
